In the first half of 2026, three new staff members joined Margaret A. Cargill Philanthropies (MACP). Their expertise will support MACP in achieving our mission, specifically on our Environment, Animal Welfare, and Investments teams.

Benjamin Skolnik, Program Officer, Environment. In this role, Benjamin supports the development, implementation, and management of MACP’s Environment grantmaking in Africa. Prior to MACP, he served in the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), worked at the American Bird Conservancy, and volunteered in the Peace Corps. Benjamin has a master’s degree in conservation biology & sustainable development from the University of Maryland and a bachelor’s degree from Wheaton College (Massachusetts).
Haili Prokop, Program Associate, Animal Welfare. In this role, Haili supports program operations, partner engagement, and grantmaking activities that advance MACP’s strategies to improve animal wellbeing and strengthen the communities where our grantees work. Prior to joining MACP, she served at Ain Dah Yung Center and held roles with University of Minnesota Physicians and the Minnesota Secretary of State. Haili has completed course work in cultural anthropology and social sciences from Inver Hills Community College.
Peter Mesna, Investment Analyst, Risk Management and Asset Allocation, Investments. In this role, Peter focuses on strategic asset allocation, portfolio construction, managing the Risk Premia allocation, and maintaining portfolio analytics. Prior to MACP, he worked at Prudential Financial supporting their ERM Risk Appetite Framework team and participated in its Risk Management Development Program. Peter has a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Colby College, with a concentration in financial markets and a minor in statistics.
