Mary Ann Deignan

Mary Ann Deignan is a member of the Investment Committees for Margaret A. Cargill Foundation and Anne Ray Foundation, both of which operate under the umbrella of Margaret A. Cargill Philanthropies. The Investment Committees report directly to the Board of each philanthropy.

Mary Ann is a Managing Director in Shareholder Advisory at Lazard Frères & Co., advising clients on shareholder activism, trends in corporate governance, and the changing profile of public shareholders. She joined Lazard from Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where she was co-head of Global Equity Capital Markets. Prior to Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Mary Ann was Head of Americas Equity Capital Markets at UBS. She began her career at Bankers Trust working in leveraged finance.

In her thirty years on Wall Street, Mary Ann has provided advice and execution expertise to a wide variety of clients, including sector leaders in the US and across the globe and small private enterprises. She has extensive knowledge of global equity markets and public market investors.

Mary Ann is on the Board of Advisors at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, and she is a founding member of the Hospital’s Pediatric Council.

Mary Ann has a bachelor’s degree from Mount Holyoke College and a masters of business administration from the Tuck School at Dartmouth.
