2025 MACP Annual Report
Amid a year of change and uncertainty – including rapid advancements in technology, global conflict, and sudden shifts in federal policy and funding – we saw people coming together to navigate challenges, support one another, and care for their communities. That shared commitment shaped our own work in 2025 as we responded to urgent needs while also reflecting on our impact and where we’re headed.
MACP provided more than $17 million in grants to address new and emerging needs. We also accelerated funding for organizations facing acute resource constraints so they could continue their essential work.
As we moved through this climate of uncertainty, our mission, values, and commitment to the guidance of our donor, Margaret Cargill, grounded us. We continued our focus on people and communities that have often been overlooked or underfunded. At the same time, we recognized that expanding opportunity often starts with listening, building trust, and strengthening relationships across differences.

These stories reflect MACP’s funding strategies and our grantee’s important work to make a difference for individuals, families, and communities.
In 2025, we made 396 grant payments for a total of $302 million. We also celebrated 30 years of grantmaking and continued to honor our founder, Margaret Cargill, by centering the communities where our grantees work and the difference we can make together.
Margaret A. Cargill Philanthropies is composed of two grantmaking foundations: Margaret A. Cargill Foundation and Anne Ray Foundation. Our investment strategies and our charitable spending support our founder’s desire to operate our grantmaking programs in perpetuity, offering stable sources of funding to the causes she valued.
While our two entities have different governance structures, we share staff, grantmaking strategies, processes, and platforms with the intent to maximize resources available to support charitable activities.
